PARK CITY, Utah, August 24, 2004 -- Carbon Graphics LLC is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Geo Terrain Importer™, a suite of plugins dedicated to the import and processing of various digital elevation terrain formats.
Geo Terrain Importer adds DEM (Digital Elevation Model), DTED (Digital Terrain Elevation Data) and SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) format support to the Geo real-time 3D modeling and animation package.
The package provides a post-load uniform or adaptive Delaunay polygon reduction capability that results in drastically reduced triangle counts. Once the terrain is generated, Geo's object placement and texturing tools can be used to complete the terrain database.
Andy Bushnell, Carbon Graphics' President stated: "We are very excited about the new Terrain Importer module and the added flexibility it provides to our existing and future customers. Geo Terrain Importer is an extremely powerful terrain import and triangulation tool-set that is an ideal front-end to Geo". Mr Bushnell further added: "The combination of Geo and Terrain Importer allows Geo to be used in the creation and modification of larger database construction projects."
