FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Santa Rosa, CA - June 22, 2025 - Carbon Graphics, a leader in real-time 3D visualization and modeling software, today announced the release of Geo Studio Pro 3.4. This milestone update delivers full GLTF/GLB compatibility complete with a powerful PBR material system, faster rendering performance, and extensive under-the-hood enhancements that redefine interactive 3D workflows.
“With Geo Studio Pro 3.4, we’ve completely re-architected our engine to embrace modern formats and push performance limits,” said Andy Bushnell, CEO of Carbon Graphics. “From seamless GLTF imports to dynamic material workflows and rock-solid stability, this release empowers creatives and engineers to work faster and more freely than ever before.”
Key Highlights
Full GLTF/GLB Import & PBR Material System
Geo Studio Pro now supports baseline GLTF 2.0 static scenes and the GLB binary format, featuring a new Physically Based Rendering (PBR) material model and shader for realistic base color, normal, metallic, roughness, and occlusion workflows
Revolutionary Fast-Path Renderer
Introduces a polygon-level fast-path rendering mode that catapults high-poly scene performance from as low as 1.7 FPS up to 35 FPS on the same hardware, with a toggleable Optimize plugin that seamlessly falls back to the standard edit-time renderer when needed
Robust Memory Management & Stability
A complete refactoring of the geoMemoryMgr allocator delivers automatic out-of-memory detection and recovery when loading multi-gigabyte models, alongside dozens of critical crash and bug fixes across tools, importers, and UI components
Advanced Mesh & Selection Tools
Adds the new GEO_MESH_TRIANGLES type for interpreting non-indexed triangle lists plus an Unstrip tool for converting any mesh to triangles. Six GeoScript plugins enable rapid selection by material, texture, or face-normal angle
Enhanced Workflow & UI Improvements
Completely overhauled Texture Palette with larger thumbnails and manual flip controls, smarter Undo menu that names upcoming operations, active tool enhancements (“F” to fitSelection, “Q” to jump grid origin), dynamic splash-screen backgrounds, and new GUI-Prefs for message‐info customization
Improved LOD & Exporter Support
Screen‐coverage–based LOD switching displays live coverage metrics in the viewport, and exporters for OpenFlight, DWB, Aechelon, OBJ, and VRML now gracefully handle PBR materials and embedded textures
“Our goal was to give users the freedom to work with the latest 3D standards while maintaining rock-solid performance and stability,” added Andy Bushnell, Chief Engineer at Carbon Graphics. “Geo Studio Pro 3.4 delivers on all fronts, and we can’t wait to see what our community creates.”
